Parable Brewing Company (CT)

On a recent Friday night we decided to check out Parable Brewing Company in Manchester, Connecticut. Upon walking through the door we were greeted by operating owner, Jesse Odell who was busy working the bar.

Instantly we struck up a conversation with Jesse about Parable, formally Top Shelf Brewing, and the beers on tap. As we chatted Jesse, whose passion and pride in his business shined through as we talked, passed samples over the counter of the beers available that night.

  • Amarillo Twist IPA
  • Proper English Mild Ale
  • Raspberry Slumber Berliner Weisse

Along with the available beers they offered Jonathan Edwards Winery (Stonington, CT) white and red wine options plus cider from the New England Cider Company (Wallingford, CT) and pretzels from the Hartford Baking Company (Hartford, CT).

After sampling the beers, all fantastic, we settled on a glass of Amarillo Twist IPA and the Jonathan Edwards white wine. We thanked Jesse and headed over to one of the tables of the 12,000-square-foot tap room to sip on our drinks and enjoy the evening.

Hours
Friday 4 pm – 9 pm
Saturday 12 pm – 9 pm
Sunday 12 pm – 4 pm

The tap room offers a variety of seating options including the bar, picnic tables, bar-room tables and couches. In addition, there is a corn hole set and foosball table should the mood strike throughout your visit. During the evening there was a steady stream of customers coming in to escape the cold and enjoy a glass.

What stood out to us as we watched the groups pass through was the wide-variety of people who stopped by that evening; from what appeared to be a group of blue collar workers to a young family of four.

As we wrapped up our evening we glanced over at the bar to see Jesse talking with a couple, even from a distance you could feel his passion for Parable Brewing Company. His passion, the setting and the quality of the beer make Parable Brewing Company well worth a visit if you are in the area.
