Littleton, New Hampshire closed out 2018 by welcoming a new restaurant to its vibrant Main Street area. The Littleton Freehouse Taproom & Eatery is located just off of Main Street on Cottage Street and is walking distance from all of the shops the downtown area has to offer.
The Littleton Freehouse offers visitors locally sourced food and drink inside a welcoming industrial-styled dinning room situated above the roaring Ammonoosuc River. The first thing you will notice upon entering is the large bar to the right with a chalk board full of craft beers from the New England region. Diners can either sit at the bar or be seated by a hostess at one of the many tables or booths. We elected to be seated in the main dining area and were led to a large booth along the wall.
Opened in December 2018, the Littleton Freehouse is locally owned by a father-daughter duo, Steven and Jillian, both of whom live in Littleton and have years of experience in the food industry.
Shortly after being seated we were greeted by our waitress and put in our drink orders, opting to go with an Imperial Stout (Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewing Co.) and a Winnie (603 Brewery; Amber Ale). Both were smooth and complemented our meal well. In addition to craft beer; wine and spirit selections are available along with soda.
Speaking of our meals we choose to go with one standard selection, the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, and also branch out a bit and try the Bauru Sandwich, a Brazilian style sandwich.
The burger, which was very filling and delicious, is made of 1/3 Ib blend of ground chuck, short-rib, brisket and then served on a Stout Beer Bun.
Our second meal option, the Bauru Sandwich was comprised of roast beef, fresh melted mozzarella, sliced tomato, pickles, black pepper & red chili flakes served in a warm Dutch Crunch Roll. The Brazilian style entree was packed to the brim and bursted with flavor each bit. Each meal was greatly enhanced by the freshness of the bread that it was served on.
Open just a couple of weeks at the time of our visit the Littleton Taproom & Eatery has a lot to be excited about and our experience was very enjoyable. With a number of additional options on the menu for food and drink we certainly plan on going back to sample the different options or to grab a drink from their many selections at the bar. The Littleton Freehouse Taproom & Eatery is a welcomed addition to the Littleton downtown district and it should attract a steady flow of vacationers and locals alike.
